The dominant culture tells us that speeding up and maximizing convenience will make us happy, yet many of us feel more isolated, confused, ashamed and less alive to possibility than ever before. The right collaborative relationship with a therapist can provide an alternative to this fleeting illusion of “happiness” and lead to the cultivation of true fulfillment and joy.

We can’t alter the past, but we can transform our relationship to it. My work with individuals begins by sharing feelings in a caring, reflective space so those feelings become more bearable, which in turn makes it possible to become aware of the dynamics giving rise to them, and deepen insight about what needs to change.

My approach is grounded in existential & depth psychologies and training in expressive arts therapy, all of which promote access to curiosity and creativity to contend with life’s inevitable challenges in more meaningful, authentic and constructive ways.

We may explore dreamwork, art, journaling and other creative tools to call in the wisdom of the image-rich unconscious. These processes can lead to relief from old wounds, they can be challenging, and they can also be fun.

My experience includes work with individuals, couples & teens in community mental health, and private practice settings and years of professional experience in the arts making me well suited to support creative individuals. Issues I help people work through include anxiety, depression, grief, intrusive thoughts, loss of vitality, addiction, codependence, and “stuckness” in dysfunctional patterns.
